"Come and Sing" Briefing

Hello and thank you for showing an interest in being part of Culture:Music on Broadway!

Come and join the Culture:Orchestra, Culture:Voce and very special guests for an evening singing dazzling musical theatre. This spectacular performance is a journey through award-winning musical hits such as Wicked, Sweeney Todd, Les Miserables, Hairspray, The Lion King, The Color Purple, The Sound of Music and many, many more. With the trademark friendly atmosphere of the Culture:Orchestra combined with professional soloists. At the beautiful Hull Minster.

Culture:Music on Broadway is an event held at both Hull Minster 13th /14th September and Toll Gavel United Church in Beverley on 21st of September. We are looking for a Come and Sing Chorus to join us for the first two performances at Hull Minster on the 13th and 14th.

The chorus will be singing with the Culture:Orchestra and Culture:Voce for several numbers including:

  • Lion King - Opening and Circle of Life
  • Oklahoma - Title track
  • Sweeney Todd - Prologue
  • Les Miserables - One day More
  • The Color Purple - Title track
  • Hairspray - You Can't Stop the beat

Music will be provided for all numbers and singers are not expected to memorise the music for the concert as music will be used. Singers are expected to go through the music prior to the rehearsals, and be able to hold a harmony line confidently. Rehearsal tracks and PDFs of music will be available on the Culture:Music website at


The main rehearsal will take place on Sunday 9th September 10:00 - 16:00 at Kardomah 94, Alfred Gelder Street, Hull, HU1 2AN. There will then be a further technical rehearsal on Monday 10th September 19:00 - 21:00 at Hull Minster and on Tuesday 11th September 19:00 - 21:00 at Kardomah 94 which will include a rehearsal with the orchestra. It is crucial that all members of the come and sing chorus can attend rehearsal dates.


Thursday 13th September 8:00 - 10:00 performance - singers to be at the minster for 7.30
Friday 14th September 8:00 - 10:00 performance - singers to be at the minster for 7.30


All singers will be required to wear all black clothing for the concerts.

Further Information

  • Any singer with access issues should ensure that this is stated when signing up to the event to ensure that any additional staging arrangements or changes can be made.
  • There will be breaks in rehearsals for lunch etc. but singers should ensure that they have water with them.
  • Singers from 15 years are all welcome but any singers aged 17 or under will require a parent or guardian to accompany them throughout the rehearsals and performances.


To perform in the come and sing chorus there is a £30 fee payable on application; this is non-refundable.
Non-performer tickets are £12 adult, £8 student (with valid student ID) and children under 15, children under 5 go free.
